Uncle Dave Macon Days goes virtual, presents Virtual Roots Rendezvous Fest June 20, 12-2 p.m.
Uncle Dave Macon Days has postponed the 42nd Uncle Dave Macon Days: A Roots Rendezvous scheduled for September 25-26, 2020. With a local impact of over 1.5 million dollars annually, Uncle Dave Macon Days has emerged from a small gathering under the stately columns of the Rutherford County Courthouse in 1978 to one of the South’s largest roots music, crowd-gathering festivals located on the banks of Town Creek in Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Forty-two years later, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted large events including Uncle Dave Macon Days. Although the warm harmonies and rhythmic porch pickin’ are suspended for 2020, organizers will continue in a new way.
Uncle Dave Macon Days’ mission to preserve and perpetuate America’s Roots Music is using its creative energy for an online festival, “Virtual Roots Rendezvous Fest”, June 20, 2020 from 12pm-2pm. Uncle Dave Macon Days will present “Virtual Roots Rendezvous Fest” hosted by broadcast personality broadcast personality, member of the Grand Ole Opry Square Dancers, Marcia Campbell featuring some of the best in Americana, Roots, and Bluegrass music. The festival will benefit those musicians and artists that have been impacted financially by COVID-19.
Appearing on “Virtual Roots Rendezvous” June 20th from 12-2pm are T. Graham Brown, Ralph Stanley II, Dr. Digger Cleverly from “The Cleverly’s”, Zack and Maggie, Will Maclean, Zach Top, Dave Adkins, and Maybe April
Augmenting a “new” social-experiment, Ben Wilson, Festival Director explains, “Virtual Roots Rendezvous is a chance to adapt and expand musically.”
More Virtual Roots Rendezvous Fests will be held through the fall, 2020. The Summer Series is June 20, July 25, and August 22. The fall season will begin September 26, October 24, November 21, and December 19. As the possibilities emerge, small live concerts and performances will happen.
With a continued commitment to authentic roots music, plans are already underway for an amazing 2021 UDM festival.
