Non-profit running community that honors the service and sacrifice of the Military, to host “Wear Blue Mile”

Wear blue: run to remember announces its participation in the 2020 St. Jude Rock n Roll Nashville Marathon and ½Marathon on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Race participants and the Nashville community can join in honoring our fallen military as wear blue will build a powerful living memorial, known as the wear blue Mile located at mile 6 in the Belmont neighborhood of the marathon and half marathon course.

Wear blue: run to remember is an all-inclusive national not-for-profit that actively bridges the gap between our military and civilian communities. Using active remembrance and meaningful relationships, wear blue empowers families of the fallen, supports our military and their families, and honors and remembers the service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

“In the wear blue Mile, 1,064 steps of the course are lined with images of fallen American service members, followed by community supporters, who bear American flags to celebrate country, honor their sacrifices, and call upon our charge to live in the aftermath of such sacrifices,” said Lisa Hallett, wear blue Co-Founder. “Each tribute poster lining the course is personally requested by an athlete or volunteer at the race. Runners feel an overwhelming sense of pride and inspiration as they move through this living memorial.”

“The St. Jude Rock ‘n Roll Nashville is honored to support wear blue: run to remember and promote their mission to our running community.  Creating a living memorial will be very impactful not only for our runners but also for the Nashville community,” said Alex Bennett, Senior Regional Director for Rock ‘n Roll Marathon Series.  “Our race has supported our local military since its inception from mirror races in Afghanistan to remembering our own lost runner, SSG Levi Pigman, US Army, and we are grateful to step that support up this year.”

To join wear blue: run to remember, Nashville and Fort Campbell have wear blue communities that meet monthly for runs. The Nashville wear blue: run to remember community meets on the first Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at Percy Warner Park. The Fort Campbell wear blue: run to remember community meets on the fourth Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the Clarksville Greenway.
